Steps
Our stories disclose in a general way what we used to be like, what happened,
and what we are like now. If you have decided you want what we have and are
willing to go to any length to get it—then you are ready to take certain steps.

G'Morning I'm Bill, one more grouchy ol' timer. When I got here I was vibrating like an E string on banjo. I am very glad I was at the point if someone showed me how to live without drinking I would follow 'em with out question. And I did. I didn't know that's where I was till later. I was coached about the traditions, concepts and steps. I had almost completed step 9 in about 30 days. Yes I did 'em in order. My 12 steppers were very aware of the value of the steps and with their questions took me through the first 3 steps. Why do we live last 3 daily ? First it is strongly suggested in BB, Second it lets us see where we are in relation to God on daily basis. And third, doing so allows us to stay current with ourselves. Fourth, I think it is one way to show others how it works, "Attraction, rather than promotion." I live in a valley of more than 400 square miles and maybe 3500 folks. Might be 35 or 40 who don't know I'm an alkie and attend meetings. In our area anonymity is kind of a myth. Wanna know who goes to AA? Drive by the church and see whose pickups are there. No one points fingers or makes disparaging comments that I know of. Many will suggest some one should talk to "___"  He/She is in AA. Because of the way they comport themselves in daily life. And folks see it.
