Faith In God
We finally saw that faith in some kind of God was a part of our make-up,
just as much as the feeling we have for a friend. Sometimes we had to
search fearlessly, but He was there. He was as much a fact as we were.
We found the Great Reality deep down within us.

Ravi, alcoholic. I don't have disagreements with what was shared. I buy the idea of God within. However, in my case my journey was slightly different. English not being my mother tongue I had trouble fully grasping the idea of power itself. Human power, horse power, hydraulic power.. well there are five kinds of power scientifically speaking. I tried to find in Sanskrit a term that would describe what power was or might be. I came up with the word Shakti. It means Divine Power. Then everything clicked for me. In crossing the line I had gone past the human power or any other kind of power, like science or medicine. The only power that I could avail of was Divine Power as exemplified by so many in AA. God please help! So it was easy for me to say I was powerless over alcohol and continue with the rest of steps. Although I know I can make connection to that power from what I already possess inwardly, I believe that power which I shall call Grace flows through me, rather than thinking it originates in me. Hence the prayer..Lord make me an instrument. So, it is to that Divine Power or Shakti that I am ultimately obliged to for saving me from the fate of an alcoholic and allowing me a life of decency, consideration and humility. Thanks.
