AA Thought for the Day

We are not cured of alcoholism. What we really have is
a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our
spiritual condition. Every day is a day when we must carry
the vision of God’s will into all of our activities.
“How can I best serve Thee—Thy will (not mine) be done.’’
- Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 85
Thought to Ponder
AA is not something we join; it's a way of life.

Chris, Alcoholic. What stood out in the reading was the word "Daily." Which does not mean weekly or monthly. It took me quite a few years to get to that point, until I was taken again through the Steps out of the Big Book, as I still was consumed with fear. Fear of the future mostly, that I was able to recognize in Steps 4 though 9. Anyway, when this occured and those promises started to unfold, I was able to go ahead and on a daily basis continue on with Steps 10, 11 and 12. It took lots of discipline but I was willing because that thought of living a fear based life rather than having that conscious contact with God was frightening in and of itself. So today I do have that daily reprieve. Thanks.
