Rest On Our Laurels
It is easy to let up on the spiritual program of action and rest on our laurels.
We are headed for trouble if we do, for alcohol is a subtle foe. We are not cured of alcoholism.
What we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.
Every day is a day when we must carry the vision of God’s will into all of our activities.

Thought to Ponder
The greatest gift that can come to anyone is a spiritual awakening.

I'm BobbieJo and I am an alcoholic. If I'm resting on my laurels, my behind should be hurting in self-inflicted pain. And then I get to complain about it and one big pity party. If I'm resting on anything, I'm doing some kind of program not of recovery designed by me. I tried that for a long time and never got far. I tried that for my first 3 months in AA and never got far...into recovery. By doing that I nearly walked out. I hope to never forget that and stay in AA doing all the AA things. Making the group coffee helps, putting out the books and all that stuff helps. What really gives me that spiritual awakening to stay sober are those 12 steps and trusting the God of my understanding. HP keeps me sober and the coffee helps.
