Fred would not believe himself an alcoholic, much less accept a spiritual remedy
for his problem. We told him what we knew about alcoholism. He was interested
and conceded that he had some of the symptoms, but he was a long way from
admitting that he could do nothing about it himself.

Pammy and I have alcoholism. Was really hard for me to grasp the fact i have this disease because at meetings I had seen people with lingering effects of alcoholism. Loss of limbs, burn victims from passing out with lit cigarettes. l shared how I wasn't like them. And there was this old timer who always sat behind me saying the word "Yet" every time I shared. It irritated the hell out of me so much that every time he said that, I wanted to choke his lips. But he was right. When I went back out if my hubby or my daughter hadn't come home, I would have been a lingering statistic. Divine intervention can only go so far if we keep hanging on to our arrogance that we are untouchable. Thank you.
