Resentment is the "number one" offender. It destroys more alcoholics
than anything else. From it stem all forms of spiritual disease, for we have
been not only mentally and physically ill, we have been spiritually sick.
When the spiritual malady is overcome, we straighten out mentally and physically.
- Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 64
Thought to Ponder
Resentment is like acid, eating away at the vessel it is stored in.

Pammy and I have alcoholism. When my sponsor was prepping me for Step 4, she explained this was the time for action and where I committed myself to going to any length. I wanted to get better and I saw that this step was an opportunity to shed away the old me. All that pain, anger and depression. She had to rein me in a few times coz I would get over anxious and tried to speed my way thru it. She wanted me to understand all my reactions to my resentments so I could see where I could change. This step is a gift to ourselves in the making. We already survived them so looking at them can no longer hurt us anymore once we use this step to let it go. Thank you.
