A Fair Hearing
We looked at the human defects of these people, and sometimes
used their shortcomings as a basis of wholesale condemnation.
We talked of intolerance, while we were intolerant ourselves.
We missed the reality and the beauty of the forest because
we were diverted by the ugliness of some of its trees.
We never gave the spiritual side of life a fair hearing.

Thought to Ponder
When I change the way I look at things,
the things I look at change.
P U T = Patience, Understanding, Tolerance.

Pammy and I have alcoholism. I always knew there was a higher power, I just didn't want one in my life. Because then I would have to give up any self deluded entitlements and not be responsible or accountable for any of my shortcomings. I had to be knocked down on my knees to see that I am not in charge. Thank God for the anonymity of our program that takes away that power from me. I can't change others perceptions on how they view others, nor do I want to. I can only change myself and that's enough in and of itself for me.
