We turned back to the list, for it held the key to the future.
We were prepared to look at it from an entirely different angle.
We began to see that the world and its people really dominated us.
In that state, the wrong-doing of others, fancied or real,
had power to actually kill. How could we escape?
We saw that these resentments must be mastered, but how?
- Alcoholics Anonymous, (How It Works) p. 66

Thought to Ponder
Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

Chris, Alcoholic. I know that I had a difficult time making amends to someone. I was totally into self with my resentment.. he did this, he did that. I have a right to be angry. Nope. Then a wiser person than myself asked me, "Did you ever think that those people who you are resentful with are spiritually sick?" I had to really take that to heart, and it just clicked in my brain. It is written in the Big Book, "We could not wish them away any more than alcohol. This was our course: We realized that the people who wronged us were perhaps spiritually sick." And after that on page 67 is the Resentment Prayer, to understand that is part of getting rid of the resentment. Thanks.
