An Answer
Upon therapy for the alcoholic himself, we surely have no monopoly.
Yet it is our great hope that all those who have as yet found
no answer may begin to find one in the pages of this book and will
presently join us on the high road to a new freedom.

I'm an alcoholic named Barbara. The word "therapy" also grabbed my focus. I got confused in the beginning. I thought AA was therapy and had to realize that other alkies were not my therapists. What they had to give me was experience, strength, and hope. I also went through a phase when I thought I was a "therapist." I'd listen closely to another person's story and then pick out possible revelations that they hadn't thought of. I was good at it. But now I understand that no one can tell me that I must do it their way, and I don't have that right either. Thanks AA for my recovery and sobriety and so many moments of wonder... And thanks for listening.
