AA Thought for the Day

In spite of the great increase in the size and the span of this Fellowship,
at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the
world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic,
sharing experience, strength, and hope.

Hi All. Darrell, alcoholic. Before I came to AA, I couldn't even define the word Hope. It didn't exist in my vocabulary. My whole life had been a life lived in insanity and chaos. I thought God hated me. Then one day I went to a meeting with a old drinking partner who had changed dramatically, and I saw glimpses of hope. There was a new way of living if I would work for it. I no longer had to live in the hell. There was a small bit of heaven in those rooms and I wanted it. I saw the twinkle in the eyes of those people, and heard laughter. Saw hugs and was hugged. First I thought you were crazy, all that hugging going on. But the sincerity gave me hope and listening to the stories. Wow! I heard me. Y'all had been following me around. So today I live in hope and try to pass along that message as it was passed to me. Thanks.
