Step Twelve
Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps,
we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice
these principles in all our affairs.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, (How It Works) p. 60

Thought to Ponder
In AA we carry the message ... not the mess.

I'm Charlie J and I still have Alcoholism. Welcome to you if you are coming back to AA or are new. This is a simple program of action. My responsibility is for my recovery. I have no power to make anyone think or believe anything. I can share what I have done and the results. I am just a messenger and not a Messiah. My goal is to attain a spiritual awakening as explained in Step 12. What is so important about this awakening? It is so powerful that it can remove the mental obsession to drink from Alcoholics like me. No spiritual awakening, then the mental obsession has not been removed and all I do/did by not drinking was to have a mini vacation from drinking, only to return to drinking at the end of my 'vacation.' It's okay however a person works to apply this simple program. If you new and you find a new way to recover from Alcoholism, please let me know as the AA way requires work and responsibility. I hope our new friends have hit their bottom and will join us for a full 100% recovery from Alcoholism as so, so many of us have. There is a test. It's just one question. How well is what I am doing working? This is the free online copy of AA's text book, Alcoholics Anonymous. https://www.aa.org/pages/en_US/alcoholics-anonymous It's the book where the answers are found. Thanks.
