Step Five
In actual practice, we usually find a solitary self-appraisal insufficient.
Many of us thought it necessary to go much further. We will be more
reconciled to discussing ourselves with another person when we see
good reasons why we should do so. The best reason first:
If we skip this vital step, we may not overcome drinking.

Thought to Ponder
I cannot mend if I bend the truth.

Pammy and I have alcoholism. I wasn't too thrilled at this step when I first learned it but as my sponsor explained if I truly wanted to change I needed this step. As she called it 'Taking out the trash.' If I didn't there would be lil to no room for anything good I needed to grow. And with the added bonus, once freed from my past I would no longer own as I had turned it over to my HP. She also said she'd rather I told a priest or minister to ease my fears and I didn't even have to belong to any faith. Freedom versus fear. Well that was an easy decision and one that I never regretted taking. Thank you.
