Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact
with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will
for us and the power to carry that out.

My name is Tom, and I'm an alcoholic. I was only one day sober when my sponsor gave me this. "The very simple program they advised me to follow was that I should ask to know God's will for me for that one day, and then, to the best of my ability, to follow that, and at night to express my gratefulness to God for the things that had happened to me during the day." (Third Edition, p. 208) That was 31 years ago so it must have worked. When I asked Rosey, "How do I know what Gods will is?" he said, "you will damn sure know when it's not!" And YES it is that simple! You can say that little prayer every morning, and not do the steps. It's almost automatic though, because it's God's will to do the steps. Thank you for being here for me.
