The Jumping-Off Place
He will presently try the old game again, for he isn’t happy
about his sobriety. He cannot picture life without alcohol.
Some day he will be unable to imagine life either with alcohol
or without it. Then he will know loneliness such as few do.
He will be at the jumping-off place. He will wish for the end.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, (A Vision For You) p. 152

Thought to Ponder
When I share my story and remember the last days of my drinking,
I remember the desperation of selling the last pieces of my soul.

I'm Clair, a grateful alcoholic here by God's Grace. What always jumps out at me is, "He will be at the jumping-off place. He will wish for the end." I can't tell you all how many times I have been there, so many that it's hard to count. And that is in sobriety too, except for this last year. I was brought to this site by a power greater then me and was introduced to all of you. Yes, no human power can remove my alcoholism, but human contact can save my bacon if I am honest enough to share with you all. If I hide those inner feelings that used to overflow in my head, then I'm doomed. I have 12 Steps, a Higher Power and a wonderful sponsor to help me. This last year has opened my eyes to what is possible and I never want to feel those negative emotions again. Thank you family.
