Prayer and Meditation
Of course we finally did experiment, and when unexpected results
followed, we felt different; in fact we knew different; and so we were
sold on meditation and prayer. And that, we have found, can happen
to anybody who tries. It has been well said that "almost the only
scoffers at prayer are those who never tried it enough."
- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, (Step Eleven) p. 97
Thought to Ponder
Today I pray over the things that I used to drink over.

I'm Roxie, grateful recovered alcoholic by God's grace. I don't share often but this morning I felt guided. I believe I started with prayer that morning I took my last drink in that dingy motel room. When I was absolutely powerless over alcohol. Uttered under my breath for God to help me, even though I had not yet met my higher power. As I was introduced to meetings, the big book, sponsor, I found some sort of belief and to believe in prayer too. As more time passed that higher power became more powerful, stronger. As I worked the steps, treated my alcoholism to recover, I now have a relationship with God of my understanding. My praying has also grown as I've stayed sober. Some days I'm better then others. It might just be the Serenity prayer, the 3rd, 7th or 11th step prayer. Other times I have a more concentrated time of prayer and meditation. Thanks.
