AA Thought for the Day

A Trivial Reason
They had said that though I did raise a defense, it would one day give way
before some trivial reason for having a drink. Well, just that did happen and
more, for what I had learned of alcoholism did not occur to me at all. I knew
from that moment that I had an alcoholic mind. I saw that will power and
self-knowledge would not help in those strange mental blank spots.

Thought to Ponder
AA is not something we join; it's a way of life.

I‘m your neighbor, sober alcoholic. I do know that it was a miracle I came to AA. But my best thinking once here said I could keep my old friends, and I could keep the unused booze from New Year's open house. WRONG! I had no intention of drinking. But by not changing playpens, playmates and thinking frugality in keeping the booze were okay, I relapsed. Now, good thinking, a great sponsor and home group got me straightened out and back in AA. And I've been here since. AA gave me the outline for a day sober, the thoughts and actions, and for sure, it's for a lifetime. I do it, you do it and we share. We show up, and share. And for that, I'm always grateful for HP/God and you. Many thanks always. God Bless all.
