A New Life
Is sobriety all that we are to expect of a spiritual awakening? No,
sobriety is only a bare beginning; it is only the first gift of the
first awakening. If more gifts are to be received, our awakening has
to go on. As it does go on, we find that bit by bit we can discard
the old life -- the one that did not work -- for a new life that can
and does work under any conditions whatever.

- As Bill Sees It, p. 8

Thought to Ponder
A spiritual awakening is our greatest gift.

My name is Tom and I'm an alcoholic. I come to this site daily for this little reminder, 'The steps Tom, don't forget about the steps.' As I was getting sober I found that the booze was gone, my demented ways were gone, my stinking thinking was gone and there was a huge empty void left in their place. So now what? How was I ever going to fill that empty void? Sponsor said, "Well congratulations, you have correctly identified the size and shape of God. Now let him have his space back. That's all, just let him have his space back." WOW! As I tried to do that I found that the steps started letting me have Tom back. And I no longer had to hang my head in shame. I found that life is good, so long as I don't drink, and let God have his space back. So please, keep reminding me, 'the steps Tom, don't forget about the steps.' Thank you for being here for me.
