Anger
In dealing with resentments, we set them on paper. We listed people,
institutions or principles with whom we were angry. We asked ourselves
why we were angry. In most cases it was found that our self-esteem,
our pocketbooks, our ambitions, our personal relationships (including
sex) were hurt or threatened. So we were sore. We were "burned up."

Thought to Ponder
Pain is the measure of our resistance to change.

I'm Roxie, grateful, recovered alcoholic by God's grace and these steps. My first 4th step was when I was about 4 months sober and was of course all about them/him/her. It took awhile in AA dry, running my life on self will run riot. Plowing through life like I knew what I was doing. My next 4th step I was in the gift of desperation, was going to drink if I didn't do it. This time something amazing happened. I brought a higher power of my understanding, was more willing. I didn't totally understand resentment, fear, anger till my sponsor showed me these other words for anger. First, here is a look at some of the shapes and colors anger seems at times to arrive in: intolerance, snobbishness, tension, distrust, contempt, rigidity, sarcasm, anxiety, envy, cynicism, self-pity, suspicion, hatred, discontent, malice, jealousy. Wow! I had all of those! Then, I could truly start looking at my harms, my part in things, the facts and the truth. It saved my life. Thank you.
