The Gift
"Gratitude should go forward, rather than backward.
In other words, if you carry the message to still others,
you will be making the best possible repayment for the help given to you."

Hi, I am Jim an alcoholic. 36 years ago I came to (woke up) with one hell of a hangover and needing a drink. I intuitively knew I would die if I did not get one, but to my horror I also knew if I took that drink I would die. The gift of sobriety was my ability to accept unconditionally what you had to offer. Since then, I have learned from others like you that the "gift" of sobriety is not mine to keep, but to try each day to give it away, and as hard as I try it always remains with me over the years. I am not a typist, but to you all -- regardless of how long you're sober -- try as hard as you can to give sobriety away every day and you will be surprised before you're half way through. My sincere thanks to all of you for your sobriety, for without yours I would not have mine. Thanks.
