Hey, y'all. I'm Sherri, an alcoholic. My date of sobriety is July 6, 1994, and for that, I am profoundly grateful. The perfect topic for me right now: "Patience." I find that I can deal with patience perfectly well. It's impatience that kills me. I have said many times over the years that I just wish God and I could synchronize our watches. That's a sign of me not being patient. I have waited over 3 years for my divorce to be final. Money, not being able to locate him, etc., has kept me from getting it done. At 2 am, I read an email from my lawyer saying the papers were ready for him to sign and our court date is very soon. What if he won't sign? What if I can't reach him? What if I don't get the papers back in time? There's that impatience again. After speaking with someone in recovery for an hour about everything but my own issues, it occurred to me that this was a matter of me not turning it over to God and trusting Him. And the same goes for every single thing that I am impatient about. It all boils down to a lack of trust in God -- not trusting His timing, not trusting His choices, and not trusting that He loves me far beyond anything I could ever understand. So, just for today, I will be patient, and know that God's got me in the palm of His hand. Thank you for letting me share.
