Do No Harm
It is only by accepting and solving our problems
that we can begin to get right with ourselves and with the world about us,
and with Him who presides over us all.
Understanding is the key to right principles and attitudes,
and right action is the key to good living.

- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 125

Thought to Ponder . . .
Serenity is not the absence of conflict but the ability to cope with it.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .
A A = Altered Attitudes.

Hello Family, my name is Lance. I am an alcoholic and grateful to be sober today. Our topic sparked me to want to share. I feel so intensely now that the best policy is No Harm; doing no one harm, but rather promoting peace and serenity. I was so reckless in my drinking career – foolish, in fact. I would like to tell a little story about a great man. He was having dinner in a restaurant one day back in the 1930's in Los Angeles. He had shoulder-length hair and wore odd clothing for the day. Some folks at another table started to laugh at him, and his companion at the table winced. She asked him, "How can you stand it, this derision?" He took a rose from the vase on that table, and crushed it in his hand. And said, “See how the rose, even when crushed, emits the most beautiful fragrance?” This is the way to be in life, no matter how painful or disappointed we may be, just keep doing the next right thing. All good comes with this contact with our Higher Power and just one day at a time. Thanks for letting me share.
