Gratitude
I try to hold fast to the truth that a full and thankful heart
cannot entertain great conceits.
When brimming with gratitude,
one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love,
the finest emotion that we can ever know.

- As Bill Sees It, p. 37

Thought to Ponder . . .
There is a calmness to a life lived in gratitude, a quiet joy.

Hi, I’m Amy, a grateful alcoholic. I realized all my fears when I was drinking. I became homeless for almost 2 years. I was destitute but managed to drink. I even donated blood for money so I could drink. I went without everything, including food. When I came to AA, it was from a homeless shelter. I was made to go to meetings, but I liked them so I went to 3, sometimes more, a day. After I did the Steps, I was able to finally stop drinking. That was 14 years ago. Now, I have a family, friends, a house, a car, -- you name it. I am very rich -- not in money, but in gratitude. I am still amazed by how my Higher Power has cared for me. I am still grateful for what I have now and where I am in this life. I give thanks each morning and every night. And maybe having been destitute, I am no longer afraid of it. HP got me through even that. Somehow, I survived and went on to become a happier person -- a spiritual person. If it were to happen again for any reason, I am not afraid. Because I have a Higher Power in my life and in my heart, He gets me through anything. Thank you for letting me share.
