Faith
True humility and an open mind can lead us to faith,
and every AA meeting is an assurance that God will restore us to sanity
if we rightly relate ourselves to Him.

- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 33

I'm Jenny, and I'm an alcoholic. To me, faith is the first part to staying sober. Without it, I know I would not be here today sober to share with you all. Faith has brought me through some extremely tough times in sobriety that I never would have dreamed of -– things I would not go through without booze in me to numb the hurt and pain. Faith is about the knowledge in my heart and mind that I have Something, Someone -- I actually have no clue, but know it’s not me -- watching over me, helping me through the days. And when I do the next right thing, I am rewarded with another day of sobriety. Without Faith, I would have run away from AA. I am grateful that I had that small light still in me when I walked through the doors into the halls of AA. Faith gives me the courage to get up each morning, to not pick up the bottle, to know that each day can be another blessing. Faith has also come in the form of trusting our program of recovery to have been able to and still continue to see how it works -- if we work it. We all live a life one day at a time, growing strong together, sharing our experience, strength and hope. If you don't yet know what your own "faith" is, let the power of the Fellowship keep you close until you find your own Higher Power to have faith in. Having faith is not being weak; it’s a power that is good. Thanks for letting me share.
