Fellowship
To watch people recover, to see them help others, to watch loneliness vanish,
to see a fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends --
this is an experience you must not miss.
We know you will not want to miss it.

Hello, I'm Michael, an alcoholic. If I was asked to describe something wonderful about this program, it would be what happens between recovering alcoholics when they really get it together. There is a kind of spark that makes it all worthwhile. And when we feel that spark, we just get a good feeling deep in our gut. This program offers us that chance, every moment of our lives from this day forward. We experience happiness, and deep down we know it has become spiritual. And all we are asked to do is be there for one another, to share fully who we are. It gets easier as we learn that we can trust each other; that we can share our pain. I mean really, what a thrill it is to leave all of our crap behind and learn from it. The program bonds us together, and the bond strengthens each and every one of us. But it can elude us, too -- it often does when we forget to be there, in one another’s presence, and when we take our will back. The truth of the matter is that I have always known the right thing to do. The hard part was doing it. When things are not going well, when I'm grumpy, and even with good intentions, there are days when things are just whacked. But today, I know it’s ok. It will work out. When the opportunity comes, I need to let it happen to nurture my growth. When I recover, and discover something that nourishes my spiritual program and brings me and others joy, I have to be willing and open to care enough about myself to make room for it in my life. Thank You, God, for allowing my yesterdays to forge my todays. I love all of you for showing me it's ok to be me. Thanks.
