Expectations
How amazing the revelation that the world, and everyone in it,
can get along just fine with or without me.
What a relief to know that people, places and things will be perfectly okay
without my control and direction.
- Daily Reflections, p. 51
Thought to Ponder . . .
Expectations are premeditated resentments.
AA-related 'Alconym' . . .

Dotti here, a, grateful recovering alkie. A lot of what I've learned about expectations has already been said. I "got" the idea about planning the plan, but not the outcome. However, I didn't apply it all the time. I didn't realize that I was forever having and holding expectations. And, if not resentful, at least disappointed when things didn't work out "my way." You know, little things, like 'I'll go to the Wednesday night meeting and I'll see 'so and so' there. I want to ask her about ..... . I'm more aware now. 'So and so' may not be at the meeting. But, it's not the end of the world. I work at limiting my expectations and remembering that things will work out just the way they're supposed to. I had a friend who used to say: "Everything's just the way it's supposed to be. If it weren't it would be different." He was someone who knew a lot about the disease, but it finally got him and he died of cirrhosis. Anyway, expectations can be dangerous. Thanks for letting me share.
