Step Four
Nearly every serious emotional problem can be seen
as a case of misdirected instinct. When that happens, our great natural assets,
the instincts, have turned into physical and mental liabilities.
Step Four is our vigorous and painstaking effort to discover
what these liabilities in each of us have been, and are. . .
Without a willing and persistent effort to do this,
there can be little sobriety or contentment for us.

Hello! I am Dave, an alcoholic. Working Step Four is one of the most liberating things I've done in my life. The further down the line I am in recovery, the benefits of doing that Step and reading it out with my sponsor are very apparent. Initially, it seemed rather a bit of a blur, but now the way I live my life is a far cry to how I used to, it's clear that that Step and releasing me off all that tension and misguided fear inside me, was pivotal in allowing me to conduct myself in life as I do now. I lose sight of just how much Steps Four and Five have benefited me. This meeting has brought it all back and cemented its positive effect on my life. I'm grateful for the Steps! I'm just a bog standard alcoholic who has found a solution like many others. The day I exit this way of life will be the death of me. One day at a time, I have the opportunity to remain close to this amazing way of life. There’s no bright lights all the time; many a challenging peak and valley, no great material gains, but I have been blessed with the tools to come to peace with whatever is going on in my life. Thank you!
