Easy Does It
We find it hard to relax and savor life.
When one of us is in a dither to get something done or get somewhere in a hurry,
a friend may gently remonstrate, "'Easy Does It,' remember?"
Then there's often a flash of annoyance at the adviser.
And that indicates the advice must have hit home, wouldn't you say?

- Living Sober, p. 44

Thought to Ponder . . .
While it isn't always easy, if I keep it simple, it works.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .

I'm Shawn, an alcoholic.  I'm one of those people who can create drama out of a hangnail.  My sponsor always tells me whenever I complain about something small, "Shawn, you're pole-vaulting over mouse turds again!"  One of the things I've come to learn from being in AA is "Easy Does It," and that, to me, means the following: no matter how much I worry over something, big or small, the outcome will still be the same.  No amount of worrying will EVER change anything.  Worry is just something that occurs inside my own mind; it is not an action.  So whenever I start to worry about something, big or small, I remind myself, "Easy Does It."  My HP, whom I call God, is in charge of my life, not me.  Only He can control the outcome of things.  I gave my will up to Him when I realized in Step Two that I had a Higher Power and that only He was capable of restoring me to sanity.  To my HP, I say this: "Good luck!" for I know I will never be completely sane.  But that's ok, because a tad of insanity makes life more fun, in my opinion.  Thanks for allowing me to share.
