Coming Home
I returned to AA, but I was reluctant for a long time to tell of my experience.
I was afraid that no one would believe me and that they would laugh.
Later, I learned that others had had the same experiences.

Thought to Ponder . . .
Recovery is discovery.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .

Hi, I'm Dave, an alcoholic.  I'm one of those retreads who went through a 28-day treatment 3.5 years ago.  I fought AA coming out of it, although I knew the program from the past.  So after a very short stint in AA after rehab, I left AA.  I tried every possible secular recovery program out there.  I read every book, and spent a ton of time bashing AA.  I could not stay sober.  I would get a few months together and go back out.  When I go out, it is 24/7 drinking.  My body can't take it anymore.  I fought AA on some theological issues and to be honest, I still do to a degree.  But the thought occurred to me that folks in AA had something I didn't -- sobriety; long term.  So came my decision to return to AA.  I had no problem with faith.  What I had a problem with was no support.  I realized I could not live without the support of people just like me.  It still just amazes me how so much different we can be on the outside and yet our stories remain so much alike when it comes down to it -- just amazes me.  So I came back and it is good to be "home."
