Keep It Simple
Dr. Bob stood in the doorway, tall and upright as ever. . .
This was my partner, the man with whom I never had a hard word.
The wonderful, old, broad smile was on his face as he said almost jokingly,
"Remember, Bill, let's not louse this thing up.  Let's keep it simple!"
I turned away, unable to say a word.  This was the last time I ever saw him.

(Bill Wilson speaking of Dr. Bob Smith .. co-founder of AA)
- Alcoholics Anonymous Comes of Age, p. 214

Thought to Ponder . . .
While it isn't always easy, if I keep it simple, it works.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .
K I S S = Keep It Serenely Simple.

I'm Bill, an alcoholic.  I remember coming to the program after rehab and wondering what all do you have to do?  That started the learning process of what is required to 'have' a program .. lots of stuff to learn.  And with all this stuff whirling through my mind, it seems my mind would be spinning; fretting that if I screwed up on any of it, I would drink.  And drinking might mean not coming back.  It still does.  So, worn out by my own perfectionism, I needed to ask God to please help me stay sober, and if I do nothing else right, stay sober today.  I have said before, that if I didn't have the words, "God, please help me," 99% percent of my program would be gone.  And that is still true.  God, help me to love and accept others and stay sober today.  I want my family to know that they are important.  Love and acceptance.  Thanks for listening everyone, if nothing else, stay sober today.
