Action
It is easy to let up on the spiritual program of action and rest on our laurels.
We are headed for trouble if we do, for alcohol is a subtle foe. We are not cured of alcoholism.

Thought to Ponder . . .
There is action and more action.
AA-related 'Alconym' . . .

Heya Friends, I'm an alcoholic and my problem is Chantale. "Action, and more action." At first, the actions were pretty simple: get up, pray, get moving, go to meeting and then pray when I go to bed. That's about the only thing I knew how to do, and did for a few weeks. Then, as most things go, more action was needed. I honestly thought that this whole process was a bit much. All I wanted was to not get drunk and not act like an idiot all the time. So all I needed from you guys was to not let me drink. I found a sponsor and thought, "Awesome! Now I'm set! She'll make me do stuff and make me not drink." Well, was I ever wrong! It took only a ten-minute conversation with my new sponsor to get the brutal truth. It was on me, not her. I had to do the work, go to meetings, work the Steps, and motivate myself to keep a routine. I had to grow up and take responsibility for my actions. I had to let go of all the excuses and put away my label maker, and get real. Did it happen overnight? Heck, no. Our program isn't set up to do in a week and, poof! life is roses and lollypops and skittles falling from the sky, and nothing bad ever happens again. It's a program for living. As much as I can’t sit on my ass and pray for a job to fall on my lap, I can’t sit on my ass and pray sobriety. I need to do the work. Life happens daily, and if you're not on your program, and if you're still hiding behind those labels and those excuses, without a doubt you’ll be dragged back into the doom and gloom of the bottle. Am I perfect at this? No! But what I know today is that if I put in half as much time and effort into my program as I did into my drinking, I'll be ok just for today. Love and light, dear friends, thank you.
