Laughter
But we are not a glum lot.  If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn’t want it.
We absolutely insist on enjoying life. . .
Outsiders are sometimes shocked when we burst into merriment over a seemingly tragic experience out of the past.
But why shouldn’t we laugh?  We have recovered, and have been given the power to help others.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 132

Thought to Ponder . . .
Laughter is the sound of recovery.

Hello folks. I'm Charlie J, and I have Alcoholism.  If you are new or are coming back and nothing seems funny or fun, keep coming.  I did, and it has been well worth it.  I remember when I was brand new I shared something that to me that was extremely important at a face-to-face meeting.  I had gotten so much grief in my life about how much salt I used, much more than I ever did about my drinking, that I was going to stop using Salt.  The topic at that meeting was "Changing," and I was going to change that.  You want to talk about laughter?  I didn't think it was too damned funny and had it been just one person doing it there might have been trouble.  But right away I could see they were not laughing "at" me they were laughing "with" me.  Now, there were times they did laugh at me but I had a way to deal with that by then.  Screw'em.  Today I get the biggest laughs at myself.  When I get all serious and then screw it all up and then look at it and laugh my butt off!  I enjoy humor today.  I learned that I need not laugh at the expense of others, as I supply all the dumb-ass things I could ever need to laugh at.  This "new" attitude didn't happen overnight and is still an ongoing process.  "Keep It Simple."  Thank you.
