Living Now
We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.

Thought to Ponder . . .
Tomorrow--and all the tomorrows to come--are but extensions of right here, right now.

Hi, my name is Harry, and I am an alcoholic.  When we are living in the past and living in the future, we are not living "in the now."  The Big Book promises, "We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it."  We learn from our past mistakes and correct them in the present.  We don't want to forget the past as long as we make corrections in the present and use the mistakes we made to correct our faults and make amends to those whom we have harmed.  We cannot foresee the future.  We can change the future but we also cannot foresee it.  Tomorrow may never come.  All we can do about the future is to prepare and plan for it, like life insurance, health insurance, disaster insurance, future savings, and possible disability insurance.  Living in the "now" means enjoying the present.  By living in the "now" by living in the present we are living our lives together.  The present bears no worries.  Accepting our responsibilities as they occur, taking the action to correct them as they occur and not procrastinate and hold them for the future, living "in the now" is to "thine own self be true."  Unity, Service, Recovery - that is living in the present, which is "living in the now."  Thanks for letting me share.
