Newcomers
“Our chief responsibility to the newcomer is an adequate presentation of the program.
If he does nothing or argues, we do nothing but maintain our own sobriety.
If he starts to move ahead, even a little, with an open mind,
we then break our necks to help in any way we can.”

- As Bill Sees It, p. 105

Thought to Ponder . . .
Newcomers are the lifeblood of the program.  But our oldtimers are the arteries.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .
T L C = Tears, Laughter, Caring.

Good morning friends, my name is Susan, and very grateful to be alive and sober today.  I try not to say "Just don't drink (and go to meetings)" to someone new, as I have experienced it.  In fact, it is a very, very painful place to be -- no drink to numb the pain, and no Higher Power to find comfort.  I personally don't recommend that.  I suffered quite some time that way.  If someone comes in and wants help, I need to give them better guidance than that.  However, this is just my point of view.  Show them the Big Book, give them a meeting list, talk sponsorship, etc.  Give them something to work with.  That's just my two cents worth!  Thanks for listening.

Blessings in sobriety to all,
In love and service,
