Hello everyone, my name is Michael, and I am an alcoholic. When I can see this time for the last, hopefully one day at a time, that I was willing and honest, pain brought me to that point. The part I had a hard time with was a Higher Power. Even though I had several years of sobriety before I relapsed, I realized I had to re-think my HP. So I started at Ground Zero and I began to pray: "God, I don't believe in You but could You help me stay sober?" I know that sounds silly but it was necessary. And days added up to months and years. Today I have my own conception of God that I am firmly grounded in. And when I get nervous when I try something new, I keep an open mind to the results. I am still willing to go to any length to stay sober. For instance, I rarely share in a meeting face-to-face because I am shy (imagine that!). Anyways, I shared last week even though I was nervous and claiming my seat. Ha! Honesty! I mean, really it's simple that those are the three ingredients as well as a desire to not to drink. I am working with a man now who can't verbally articulate his thoughts. So I suggested he write it down in the language of the heart. Thank you.
