Recovery

If you have decided you want what we have and are willing to go to any length to get it
—then you are ready to take certain steps.
At some of these we balked.  We thought we could find an easier, softer way.
But we could not.  With all the earnestness at our command,
we beg of you to be fearless and thorough from the very start.

My name is Timosita, an alcoholic, and I am new.  Well, I keep coming on and off AA, trying to move on with the program.  I am currently at Step 4 with my sponsor, who is very supportive and understanding.  I am only 2 weeks old in sobriety.  I've been in active alcoholism, and it became part of me; I needed it to function normally as it was my best friend, but I hated the friendship.  God was kind to me all the while because I did not hit the bottom all these years.  No disgrace, jail, illness, family breakup, but I wanted to be set free.  To cut a lengthy story short, I felt I needed peace and a better life and that made me come back to AA after few failures in the program.  I pray I scale through this time as I feel a bit closer to my Higher Power and know how to pray properly, not just greedily.  For now, this is all I can say as I try to work the Steps completely.
