Knowing Peace

We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.
No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.
- Alcoholics Anonymous, pp. 83-84

Thought to Ponder . . .
Happiness and peace of mind are always here, open and free to anyone.

Hi everyone, I'm Robin, an alcoholic with Mittenhead the cat at the keyboard.  What does it mean for me at this place in my recovery to "Know Peace?"  When I got here, I knew chaos, and was at the center of most of it all my life.  So I when I think about Knowing Peace I realize it is a miracle of the program that my life has changed so much.  In troubling relationships, I have learned I don't have to catch the ball.  I am not obligated to engage in other people's chaos; that is all new to me.  Once I learned I didn't have to save, marry, judge, etc., every hurting individual I came across, I found ways to be useful and help others through the program.  So much of my chaos was my interaction with others, and that has changed.  Some of my chaos was all mine, mostly in my head but some of it in behavior.  I do Know Peace, certainly not all the time.  I Know Peace with others, Peace with myself, Peace with my Higher Power, and Peace right here - thank you.
