Acceptance
We admitted we couldn't lick alcohol with our own remaining resources, and so we accepted
the further fact that dependence upon a Higher Power (if only our A.A. group) could do this
hitherto impossible job. The moment we were able to accept these facts fully,
our release from the alcohol compulsion had begun.

Howdy All. Rod here, Alkie. Acceptance... one of the hardest things in so many ways. First, was accepting that I was more than likely an alcoholic. Next, accepting that I was unable to deal with it like I had tried so many times before. Acceptance that I needed help. Acceptance that my way didn't work. Acceptance, that although we are all children of God, that sometimes we need more strength than we have on our own. Acceptance that AA was there to help me... but only if I could adhere to this blueprint for success. Acceptance that you all are here, and willing to help, as long as I'm willing to help myself. Acceptance, that, in spite of constantly being surrounded by alcohol, that I had to learn to say no. All of this was hard 209 days ago, but, by surrendering to it, and accepting my flaws, weaknesses, and the need for a Higher Power to help me... it gets easier... one day at a time. Blessings.
