Checking Our Motives
But in other instances only the closest scrutiny will reveal what
our true motives were. There are cases where our ancient enemy,
rationalization, has stepped in and has justified conduct which
was really wrong. The temptation here is to imagine that we had
good motives and reasons when we really didn't.

My name is Jamie and I am an alcoholic. I laughed when I saw the topic. Generally I just assume ALL my motives are flawed...saves me time. I spend a lot of time simply doing the opposite of first inclinations. It takes some tongue biting but usually it works and I feel better. Of course, I still review it at the end of the day, and as we are told I try to make amends asap. I have found that's the big thing. I WILL make mistakes and muck things up but I can make amends and not let it linger. Thanks All.
