We have been speaking to you of serious, sometimes
tragic things. We have been dealing with alcohol in its
worst aspect. But we aren't a glum lot. If newcomers
could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn't
want it. We absolutely insist on enjoying life.

My name is Mark, very grateful real alcoholic, recovered by the Grace of a loving God. Happy 2020 Everyone! It is already. Love to share from our Basic Text "Alcoholics Anonymous." I loved this line when I first read it. Not so serious finally! In this book full of confrontation and all. But how on earth could I do that? Today, I'd say the less I control my life, or try to (I can't anyway) the better it gets. And I could never understand that mechanism. Happiness being a byproduct of being helpful and loving to others? Just tell me where I can work hard for money, and point me in the direction of the happiness-store, please. Thank you! I never tried to let go of well... almost all selfishness and ego, to see what the result might be if I did. Till painful sobriety forced me to surrender to whatever Power would catch me, and that happened. You are all part of the solution I need today. So I wish you nothing for 2020 but the open mind to let go of control. Don‘t block power there already is. And I am sure we will have an awesome 2020 together. Happy... Joyous... Free. New Year, but just the present moment is where whatever can happen. Grateful for You, these principles, and you all. Right here. Right Now.
