Step Eight
Every A.A. has found that he can make little headway in this new adventure of
living until he first backtracks and really makes an accurate and unsparing survey
of the human wreckage he has left in his wake. To a degree, he has already
done this when taking moral inventory, but now the time has come when he ought
to redouble his efforts to see how many people he has hurt, and in what ways.

Deborah here and I'm an alcoholic. Step 4 was very eye opening and humbling for me and was the basis for my list of those I had hurt in Step 8. By the time, however, that I got to Step 8 there were more names on there than had been on my Step 4 list. It wasn't so much redoubling my effort as much as "more will be revealed." I don't remember everyone that I hurt when drinking. As I accumulate more time, more amends will need to be made. Because in the end, those amends are even more for me than those that I hurt. It's freeing and humbling. When more is revealed today, I turn it into a Step 10 and deal with it if I can immediately. I have 10 months under my belt today and I look forward to more of this wonderful new life being revealed. Thank you all for all your help getting me here!
