Faith
A.A. is more than a set of principles; it is a society of alcoholics in
action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither
and those who haven't been given the truth may die. Faith is more
than our greatest gift; its sharing with others is our greatest responsibility.

Hi everyone. Dennis, grateful alcoholic. Faith equals Trust. Trust in something you cannot see. When I first came to these Hallowed Halls, I was a shell of a man, a ghost. Broken, battered, shattered in Spirit and in mind. Beaten to the ground by the demon in the bottle. And I fought... oh how I fought. Fought to survive, to control, to do things MY way. Trying to get better, but never knowing how. So when I fell through the doors here, barely a person, you welcomed me. You held out your hands, and took me aside and started to teach me. The TRUST that I gained... in all of YOU grew into Faith. Faith to see your experience, to feel your Strength and to believe in the Hope you spoke of. You helped me to see, and have a deeper Faith in a Power greater than I could ever be. That Power, God for me, has always been there I have learned, as I looked back over my exploits in the dark times. You helped me to have Faith and Trust in a 12 step climb to freedom that I never knew. As my conscious contact with God grew, as I walked this 12 step path, you gave me a Faith and a Trust in myself, guided by God's grace, to pass this message on to others. Broken souls who suffered as I suffered, as we all suffered. You taught me to see how we share in the common peril, our disease, and the common solution which is the 12 steps. So I try now to give back every chance I have, to those new and old because it was so freely given to me. This program has taught me that "God uses broken people like you and me to rescue broken people, like you and me." Thank you all so much for all you do for me and each other. God Bless you all.
