My Inventory
Putting out of our minds the wrongs others had done, we resolutely
looked for our own mistakes. Where had we been selfish, dishonest,
self-seeking and frightened? Though a situation had not been entirely
our fault, we tried to disregard the other person involved entirely. Where
were we to blame? The inventory was ours, not the other man’s.

I'm Pammy and I have alcoholism. I was raised in a double standard world where women had to accept their lot. So I had a lot of resentments geared towards my brothers. I tried hard to raise my son differently but he developed so many of all 5 of my brothers' traits, it's like I never left home. Then one time my oldest sister and brother were arguing real bad and I noticed how similar they were. As I was talking about this to my sponsor she said to add that to my step 4 list. I was a lil confused coz I wasn't the one arguing, it was them. As I wrote my list I saw it. OMG I had those traits too and reacted the same way! I saw that with the serenity prayer I can only change me and that is the value of this step. Thank you.
