Immense Experience
We know that little good can come to any alcoholic who joins A.A. unless
he has first accepted his devastating weakness and all its consequences.
Until he so humbles himself, his sobriety—if any—will be precarious.
Of real happiness he will find none at all. Proved beyond doubt by an
immense experience, this is one of the facts of A.A. life.

Dana here, recovered alkie and very grateful. I was just around AA for years but never really in AA. Even when I had four years I was just miserably dry. But when I went out for a day I found out that it's just as bad or worse. Then I thought I want what Bill and Bob had and I needed a sponsor to show me the way. There is this guy in the fellowship whose wife passed away who was still sober. And I said if AA works for him I want him to sponsor me. We studied the first 164 pages of the Big book and did the steps as set forth. And the obsession just left me. Surrender to win. Now I am a member of the AA family. I wouldn't want the old drinking life back for anything in this world. Thank you all for the wonderful gift of sobriety.
