Step Ten
Learning daily to spot, admit, and correct these flaws is the
essence of character-building and good living. An honest
regret for harms done, a genuine gratitude for blessings
received, and a willingness to try for better things tomorrow
will be the permanent assets we shall seek.

- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, (Step Ten) pp. 94 - 95

Thought to Ponder
Learning is the very essence of humility.
The two walk hand in hand.

Hi everyone. Dennis, grateful alcoholic. To look in the mirror, to look myself in the eye. To look at the source of the problem, the self imposed misery has not been and easy thing for this egomaniac with an inferiority complex. No one wants to truly see where they fall short, cause another discomfort etc least of all me. But one of the many things God's Grace has given me is one big thing I have been missing for a very long time. Humility. I have learned that in humble surrender, I can be free. Free of the burden of ME. Of trying to be in charge of everything and everyone. And free to do the Will of a Power greater that I could ever be. To see and LEARN when I make a mistake, react wrong, behave badly. And free to correct it right then and there. So I have been given the gift of humility in doing a Step 10 when I fall short. The gift of love and tolerance of others and MYSELF. And the gift of forgiveness to forgive me when sometimes there is a little too much... me. Simple, but not easy. Thank you all so much for all you do for me and each other. God Bless you all.
