Suddenly Realize
We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We
will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace...
...We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used
to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us
what we could not do for ourselves.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, (Into Action) pp. 83 - 84

Thought to Ponder

Hi everyone! I'm Christi and I am a grateful recovering alcoholic! This reading gives me hope. And a renewed hope this morning. Recently I made the third step decision. This is my 2nd time through the steps but more in depth this time. I had no idea how that decision would charge my life drastically for the better! After all, I thought I knew God. I realized my time with Him in the mornings and evenings had been nothing more than routine. Now they're personal. Last night I was really discouraged when I went to bed. I thought, God I cannot do this!! And you know what? That's true. I can't do this! Not on my own. I need HIM. So this morning I got up and I was reading all my readings. And one of my other non AA readings stood out to me, "Is anything too hard for God?" Then my next reading was this reading out of the big book. Did he have a sense of humor or what? And I heard Him gently ask me, "Do you trust me to guide you through this step in MY power?" And I realized that God will and is doing for me what I cannot do on my own. On my own I can't get sober, I can't work the steps, I can't get rid of defects, etc. But depending on HIM, HE can! And THAT was the whole point of making that 3rd step decision! I'm blessed to have the sponsor and the close friends in this program that I do! I'm blessed to have all of you and these meetings. I learn from all of you. I'm so grateful to be here.... my home. I'm so grateful for all of you.... my family.
