Review Our Day
When we retire at night, we constructively review our day. Were we
resentful, selfish, dishonest or afraid? Do we owe an apology? Have
we kept something to ourselves which should be discussed with
another person at once? Were we kind and loving toward all? What
could we have done better? . . . After making our review we ask God’s
forgiveness and inquire what corrective measures should be taken.

I am Eddy, an alcoholic. Life before versus life after step 11 bears a lot of contrast. Before, I went to bed hurting, rambling to God almost in a panic. Everything felt chaotic and then I'd get up to face the problems. AA teaches me not to let the sun go down on it. To address any issues and if I need to, right the wrongs of today. The build up of those wrongs lead to resentment, anger, grudges, and in turn led me to drinking. But step 11 has become more for me than just not letting the sun go down. My reflection time directly effects my growth and without it, I don't seem to take as much away each day as I do. When I am dealing with myself, it's under the microscope of truth. God holds that microscope for me every night, showing me where I did good, where I didn't and showing my heart what to do next. I couldn't see myself clearly before I came into the program. The steps helped me take a look at who I was but this step keeps me looking at who I am, who God is, and I grow because of it. Thanks.
