Change Ourselves
We thought “conditions” drove us to drink, and when we tried to
correct these conditions and found that we couldn't to our entire
satisfaction, our drinking went out of hand and we became
alcoholics. It never occurred to us that we needed to change
ourselves to meet conditions, whatever they were.

Morning all and thanks so much. Special welcome if you are new. Susan, very grateful recovered alcoholic by Grace. I am chuckling this morning thinking about the fact that I don't think it really, deeply crossed my mind for eons that I was the one that needed to change. I was quite certain that everyone and everything else was to blame for my drinking, for my misery, and everything else for that matter. It is my personality, my thinking that ultimately needed changing. Nobody or nothing else. Tough point to get to. Grateful that AA showed me a specific path to that change. With clear directions. For sure, my directions, my way never worked. Blessed to have Received. Available to anyone. No one is left out unless they are not open to it. Loving the continued journey. Thanks all. Continued Grace and growth.
