Emotional Stability
We discovered the best possible source of emotional stability to be God Himself.
We found that dependence upon His perfect justice, forgiveness,
and love was healthy, and that it would work where nothing else would.

- As Bill Sees It, p. 72

Thought to Ponder . . .
I would rather live my life as if there is a God
and die to find out there isn't,
than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .
G O D = Good Orderly D

I’m Hope, and I’m an alcoholic. When my sponsor took me through the Steps, we used to sit outside in a park at the foot of Mount San Jacinto. One day, she looked up and said, “If you ever forget God is all around with you, just look up at the mountain. It is always there -- sometimes obscured by snow, fog, or rain, but always, always, there over you.” I love that. I have a no-fail method for stopping the ‘squirrelly thinking,’ too. The first sign is when I am talking to folks not here, or stuck in a loop -- you know? The first time it happened was early in sobriety, no urge to drink, but alcoholic thinking: how to get a job without a car, how to get a car without a job. A nice AA lady gave me short five-word prayer, “God is my only source.” Repeat five times, stressing each word in turn. It works on the spot, and stops the squirrel-wheel-thinking. Even the first time, I got a new idea -- never thought of alone -- I'll get a bus pass! God's inspiration! And for people problems? God is compassion! Thanks for letting me share.
