Love
Love is the cement for the unity we need in AA.
It joins the power of the mind and the heart for emotional growth.
It promotes lasting attachments, never divisive controversy.
The love we find in AA is always warm, never cold. It is firm, never loose.
Companionship is a result of love.

- The Best of the Grapevine [Vol. 3], p. 297

Thought to Ponder . . .
Love is what creates in a sober AA member the outer show of an inner glow.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .
A A = Always Awesome.

I'm Jane, an alcoholic. As I've been in AA and stayed sober a very long time now, my concept of love has changed because I've changed. When I first arrived, I was told I'd need to learn to love myself, which did take time, and I'd learn to bring God into my life. The Big Book connected me with God, and through the Steps, I now have a very good relationship with God. I've discovered love is not always as I see it, but love is as is. And as God gives it, and others are able to give it, I've discovered I can love deeply. I became a parent when sober, and I'm grateful my daughter has never seen me drunk. Nothing spelt love like the first time I held that baby. And I discovered pain sober -- nothing hurt like when she’s sick. AA has taught me to look inside myself but also to look inside God. How I see things is usually just the surface; God goes much deeper. Physical, sexual, love is a bonus. The spiritual and emotional love I've found sober has been the gift, and the means to me being sober over 22 years. I don't need a special day to show love. I do it every day because I want to -- not because I have to. Thanks for letting me share.
