Adventure
Learning how to live in the greatest peace, partnership,
and brotherhood with all men and women of whatever description
is a moving and fascinating adventure.
- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 77
Thought to Ponder . . .
Sobriety is the adventure of a lifetime,
and it begins the moment we ask AA for help.

I’m Carla, an alcoholic. This program is like taking a ride through "It's a Small World" at Disneyland -- every turn, every nook and cranny is a new adventure. The Big Book reads this way! And I have found that I no longer 'white-knuckle' it anymore, and haven't for many, many years because I know myself now. Living sober and working the program, I've learned to just be the unique me that God has intended for me to be. I'm comfortable in my own skin. I know who I am and what my capabilities are. I'm a beautiful woman both inside and out. I have a huge family and lots of really cool friends. Working the program takes a lot of practice and mind-altering on my thinking. I've had to learn how to do that. Changing my thoughts and having a much more positive attitude in life gets me farther than ever. I know that I am powerless over not only alcohol, but people, places, and things. The only thing I'm responsible for is my attitude and reaction. I keep it simple because, as you and I are aware of, we alcoholics are a complicated lot! Keeping in the here and now, and digging in my heels to get the work done my Sponsor assigns is top priority. One day at a time, I stay in my chair quite comfortably these days and I'm happier now more than I ever have been. Keep the faith and God will provide. I have a daily ritual now; have had it for a long time -- lots of prayer and meditation, and reading all the AA books to get better. Thank you.
